Released in 1973, the Akai CR-80D-SS is a 2-head 2/4 channel 8-track quadraphonic audio system that plays and records on 8-track cartridges. Features 2 front and 2 rear VU metres with back lighting, front and rear volume dials, stop/rewind/play/record/ff push buttons, continuous play switch, and more. Also comes with headphone jack for private listening plus multiple input/outputs to connect to external speakers, turntable, mic, PA system, and a wide range of other equipment. The AMPLab’s aim is to provide access to audio in all its forms, and this Akai system provides a reliable source for listening to virtually obsolete 8-tracks as well as experimenting with this unique recording format.
