Do you have an old reel-to-reel player, cassette deck, VHS machine, or something even stranger that plays audio or video tucked away in your closet, basement, or garage? If so, the AMPLab is interested! We are always on the lookout for vintage audio gear to digitize old collections or create new works in old sound media. We are also interested in that box of tapes you have that document a reading series or other any other kind of literary events or activities you think may be of literary historical interest. We are available to discuss how such collections can be developed for preservation and use in research and teaching.
By donating to the AMPLab, you are helping current and future students, researchers, and audio experts to build a comprehensive space dedicated to literary sound studies. You’ll also enable us to preserve and learn from unique sound objects and use these otherwise lost sounds in the production of literary podcasts, events, performances, listening practices, and more.
Contact us if you would like to donate a piece of audio equipment, share your personal sound archives, or make another kind of contribution. Thank you!
